Brian's Thoughts About Airplanes: 10+ Hours of V

  • Wish · 1 month ago
So....true story. I get stuck with the Bears/Browns game yesterday so I flip over to SyFy (not SciFi) and there is V staring me in the face. I watch that for about two hours, pop in Star Trek II - Wrath of Khan and then eat dinner to prepare for the World Series game. That bores me after the second inning so I switch back over to SyFy and and bammo! two and a half more hours of the V Finale. The wife came home with about thirty minutes to go and she was entranced. I loved the hot air balloon's. You can never defeat a group of hot air balloon's.

We're watching the remake, or whatever they want to call it, on ABC tomorrow at my wife's request....thank you SyFy.

I feel like a rube. Though I am old enough, and though this seems like something I would have loved to watch, I was completely unaware of an original V until two days ago when a friend mentioned this "remake." But, I was already intrigued, so it doesn't matter.

Action: define action. Is running action? Is throwing a frisbee for my dog action? Is taking the elevator down four floors to have a cigarette in the horrible, horrible Hudson River wind action?

Anything can be "action" if done in the correct manner - I'd click over and watch the entirety of that video.

The original V is very dated, but the first miniseries especially is actually pretty good. The original creator left in the middle of the second one due to a conflict with the network, and it shows.

Yeah, I still feel just plain dumb for not knowing about this original series. Like it took me two decades to watch Twin Peaks all the way through.

Action: I'd go with swiveling in my desk chair. Very dramatically.

Michael Ironside's performance in the original V is rock solid.

    "Say goodnight hot shot."

Michael Ironside's deadpan oneliner as he pours the red dust on an alien.

    He did that to Steven!

Also how he calls Mike "Gooder" lol.

How about Ham Tyler's associate? The bearded guy. He never got any credit for anything. He was a badass with a crossbow as I recall.
